How is my vehicle tracked?
We install a GPS tracking device into your vehicle that records your vehicle(s) movements throughout each day. This data is then sent across a mobile data network to our secure cloud servers where it can be accessed by you.
At what frequency does your tracking device report my vehicles location?
With our Fast-Track technology you can watch your vehicles travelling with positions reported every 5 seconds - the fastest reporting time available in the industry!.
What can you tell me about my vehicles that I don't already know?
What types of tracking device do you have?
We have several different devices to suit different requirements. The most common device is our P55, which is a fully installed tracker that’s connected to the vehicles power and ignition at all times. Our self-installed P100 attaches straight onto the battery, and is connected to the vehicles power at all times. The plug'n'play trackers are fitted straight into the power socket or the OBD socket, depending on which model works best for you. We also have self contained trailer/asset trackers, as well as a rechargeable personal tracker.
Is your tracking device safe for use in vehicles?
Our device is FCC/CE/E-Mark Certified and meets all of the required safety standards that govern the use of tracking devices in vehicles.
Does the tracking device use GPS?
Yes! The tracking device uses a high sensitivity GPS module to establish its location to within 2.5 metres.
Does the tracking device have antennas?
The tracking device has built in GSM/GPRS & GPS antennas, so you wont see any cables or antennas anywhere within the vehicle.
Does the tracking device have a backup battery?
Absolutely – all our tracking devices have an internal battery to ensure it can still track the vehicle even if its disconnected from power. This would typically happen in a tow-away scenario. You can expect up to around 8 hours of tracking in this mode.
Do you visit me to install the tracking device into my vehicle?
Yes we do! Our nationwide installation team will visit you at a location and time of your choice to install the tracking device. If you have chosen one of our self-installed, or plug'n'play trackers, you can easily install it yourself.
Is the tracking device visible when I get in my vehicle?
The fully installed tracker is completely hidden from view, you cannot see any sign of it from inside the vehicle. The self installed tracker that sits on the battery is only visible if the compartment that holds the battery is opened up. The plug'n'play trackers are visible, so we don’t recommend these if a covert installation is what you need, but they are very flexible when it comes to ease of movement between vehicles.
How long does the installation take?
Typically no more than 45 minutes for the fully installed device. The self-installed tracker on the battery can be fitted in under 2 minutes. The plug'n'play devices are simply pushed into the socket in a matter of seconds.
What days/times can I choose from to have my tracking devices installed?
Our installation services are offered between Monday-Friday 8am-6pm, and Saturdays between 8am-1pm.
What happens if I change my vehicle?
No problem! We can de-install the fully wired tracking device from your old vehicle and install it into your new vehicle for a one off fee of £95.00(+vat). None of your tracking data will be lost during the transfer. The self-installed and plug'n'play units are designed so that you can easily move them yourself at no extra cost.
Do I need to install any application software to access my tracking data?
Our primary service is entirely web-based, so you only need an internet connection, a web browser and your username and password to access your tracking data. We also have free apps for both Android and Apple, so that you can keep an eye on your fleet whilst you are on the move. Download it for free, and login with your usual username and password.
What devices can I use to access my vehicle tracking data?
You can access your data using a PC, Laptop, Apple Mac, Ipad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Iphone, Android phone.
Do you have Mobile Apps I can use?
Yes we do. Just search for ‘Pinpointers Tracking’ on the app store that you use.
What browsers do you support?
We support Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
Are you GDPR compliant?

Where is my vehicle tracking data stored?
All your data is stored at our secure UK based state-of-the-art data centres. Our data centre facilities are certified to ISO9001 Quality Management System and ISO 27001 Information Security Management System standards.
Is my data physically safe?
Absolutely! We have 24 hour 7 days a week Manned security, CCTV & Intruder Alarms watching over the servers that store your data.
Is my data safe from online attack?
All of your data is protected by state-of-the-art Cisco Firewalls and the very latest Internet security technology.
Is my vehicle tracking data backed up?
Yes! We backup your data every hour to our secondary data centre giving you peace of mind that your data is not just stored in a single location.
Is your online service reliable?
For the past 5 years our service has delivered an impressive 99.99% uptime. All of our servers are manned 24x7 by accredited Microsoft MCP, Cisco CCNA, VMware and Linux Certified Professionals.
What warranty do I get with the tracking device when I opt for the purchase option?
The warranty for the fully installed tracking device is 24 months. All other models have a 12 month warranty.
What warranty do I get with the tracking device when I opt for a rental option?
You get a lifetime warranty on all rental options.
Is your warranty on-site or do I have to return it to you?
For the fully installed tracking device, the warranty is on-site, in other words we will send our engineer to wherever the vehicle can be made available in order to rectify a problem. For all other devices, we just swap it for a replacement via the post.
What after sales support service do I get when I subscribe to your service?
All our systems are monitored by on-site staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (24x7x365). Our intelligent monitoring tools alert us immediately of any problems, so the chances are we will know about any issues and be working to resolve them before you even notice.
Our support hours are (Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm). We also operate a 24x7x365 email and telephone fault logging service.
Can I get a discount on my insurance when I have your tracking device installed?
Our tracking device is not Thatcham approved as it is used for fleet management and not solely vehicle security. However, most insurers will still offer a discount on premiums for vehicles equipped with tracking devices that report to a secure cloud based data centre environment. It is therefore worth checking with your insurer to see if any discounts are available.
